N4 Systems, Commercial Group Lifting Products and Psion Teklogix Provide Industry First Inspection Solution to Major Automotive Manufacturer
Detroit, Michigan – October 23, 2007 – Using N4 Systems’ flagship inspection solution, Field ID, Commercial Group Lifting Products has conducted the first ever field inspections at a large automotive manufacturer in Detroit. The Field ID solution uses a combination of RFID, the Psion Teklogix Workabout Pro G2 mobile computer and the World Wide Web.
“Truly an industry first, we have raised the bar in conducting inspections,” said Gar Knight, President of Commercial Group Lifting Products, “It is the first time RFID has been used to inspect equipment on this scale. Automotive manufacturers typically have exceedingly stringent safety requirements. Using Field ID, RFID and the mobile inspections units, we can conduct completely paperless inspections at a fraction of the time, and simultaneously offer our customers assurance that they have met and surpassed safety requirements.”
Field ID is a comprehensive web-based solution that takes the guesswork out of safety compliance. Users of Field ID conduct inspections using mobile computers and RFID. This allows them to avoid traditional inspection issues including equipment identification and paper-based recordkeeping systems. With this new system, completed inspections are automatically transferred to a secure website. There they are analyzed and stored to be used in safety audits and compliance.
“The traditional method of conducting inspections with a pen and clipboard no longer meets the ever-increasing safety requirements of today’s companies. Commercial Group Lifting Products is a great example of how the use of Field ID drastically reduces errors, manual entry, and inspection time while increasing safety at the workplace,” says Somen Mondal, CEO of N4 Systems. “Knowing that Field ID is being used on a large scale basis at a major automotive manufacturer cements the fact it is the future of conducting inspections and managing site safety.”
“Psion Teklogix is proud to be a part of this exciting mobile inspection solution,” says Ron Caines, Psion Teklogix’ President of the Americas. “This application is a perfect example of the unique uses that exist for true multi-modal hand held computers, when they’re paired with software solutions such as Field ID.”
